This week, we actually managed to do a lot of exploring.
Steve, Bret, and I went to Las Ruinas Ujarraz in the Orosi Valley on Thursday. We had to take a bus to Cartago first, and we explored that for a little while, but after realizing what a stanky city it was (is), we left.
The bus let us off at the base of a mountain in Orosi, in the Middle of nowhere. A farmer told us where the ruins were, and off we walked. It was actually an interesting hike--it was a really nice area, but there was NOBODY around. There were bars and restaurants, even a countryclub-esque pool, all deserted.
A dog ran out of its gate and started walking next to us.
We finally arrived at the church.
Walked for a while on a dirt road that led from the church back to another part of the road. Saw a snakeskin and got a couple cool valley views, but otherwise it was a pretty uneventful walk.
We got back to the main road--literally this tiny intersection with one store, where like 3 guys were huddled around a pinball machine. They played the whole time we were there, which ended up being like an hour.
Anyway, that was thursday. We took the bus back into San Jose and called it a night.
